Keene, NH—Church & Main, Inc, a strategic marketing communications firm, has been selected by the Portuguese Tourism Authority to develop an marketing campaign to promote an exhibit organized by the Smithsonian Institution's Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery with support from the Ministry of Culture of Portugal.
The exhibit, “Encompassing the Globe: Portugal and the World in the 16th and 17th Centuries,” presents approximately 300 objects, including several pieces from the National Art Museum of Portugal, produced by each of the cultures touched by Portugal’s early trade routes. During the 16th century, Portuguese sailors braved international waters to create a global trading network that extended from Europe to Brazil, Africa, the Persian Gulf, India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, China and Japan. “Encompassing the Globe” explores the artistic achievements that flourished when these sailors exposed new creative techniques and imagery to the world as they transported goods from port to port. The Exhibit will be on view June 24, 2007 through September 16, 2007 at the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery and the neighboring National Museum of African Art in Washington, DC.
"We are honored by the opportunity to promote this important artistic exhibit within Washington, DC,” states Elizabeth V. Brown, president and owner of Church & Main, Inc. “Visitors arriving at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport or Union Station, traveling on the Red Line of Washington's great subway system, walking through the downtown shopping districts and noticing the colorful street banners, or viewing or boarding buses will learn about the exhibit at the Sackler Gallery. We urge any of our neighbors from New Hampshire to add this to your itinerary for a summer trip to the nation's capital."
